Australian Health Tech Heidi Opens Berlin Office

Australian health tech startup Heidi Health is expanding into the German-speaking market with a new office in Berlin. The move comes on the heels of a $65 million Series B funding round that values the company at $465 million, according to Handelsblatt and a company press release.

Heidi's AI-powered medical scribe assistant helps doctors automate clinical documentation and administrative tasks. Founder Tom Kelly says German physicians were among the first to try Heidi without invitation, signaling strong market readiness. "We want to build a truly German Heidi, not just a translated product," Kelly told Handelsblatt. "That means local integrations, local support, and a team that understands the market."

The Berlin office will serve as a hub for product development, customer support, and market expansion across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The company chose Berlin for its ability to attract health tech talent.

Currently serving several hundred paying users in Germany, Heidi aims to have 10 to 20 percent of German general practitioners try the platform within the next 12 to 24 months, growing to thousands of paying customers.

Globally, Heidi supports over two million patient consultations weekly across 110 languages in 116 countries. In 18 months, the platform has saved frontline clinicians more than 18 million hours by streamlining administrative work. Research shows doctors spend nearly as much time on paperwork as on patient care.

The Series B round was led by Point72 Private Investments, with participation from existing investors Blackbird, Headline, and Latitude. Total funding now stands at nearly $100 million.

Heidi is already working with major healthcare systems in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The company is also expanding its presence in France, Spain, Ireland, South Africa, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
