Berlin Startup Turns Smartphones Into Health Scanners

Berlin-based health tech startup YOU(th) has raised $4.5 million in fresh funding to make preventive health screening as easy as taking a selfie. The round was led by Callisto Health, with participation from caesar., adesso Ventures, Antler, Moonstone, and 1024 Ventures, plus angel investors including Alan founder Jean-Charles Samuelian and HomeToGo CEO Patrick Andrae.

As reported by TFN, the company has already signed more than 20 contracts with clinics and health insurance providers, a strong early signal for its B2B2C model.

So what's the big idea? YOU(th) turns the smartphone in your pocket into a diagnostic tool capable of assessing 50+ digital biomarkers across more than ten organ systems, all in under two minutes. The platform analyses face videos, voice recordings, skin and eye images, typing patterns, and step behaviour to surface early risk signals related to heart health, lung function, cognitive age, metabolism, mental health, and more. No needles, no clinic visits, no specialised hardware required.

This matters because 60% of people currently skip preventive screening due to cost, wait times, or inconvenience. YOU(th) wants to remove every one of those barriers.

The startup operates out of Berlin and New York, and its founding team combines serious credentials: CEO Filippo Nigro is a former Product Lead at HomeToGo, COO Johannes Kraus built a machine-learning marketplace adopted by Munich Re, and CTO Yuriy Dushin is a biostatistician published in Nature.

New funding will go toward expanding the engineering, data science, and medical research teams as YOU(th) scales its platform globally.
