Berlin's AnyTax Lands €1M for Tax Tech Platform

Berlin-based AnyTax has closed a €1 million pre-seed funding round to build embedded tax infrastructure for banks and fintechs, according to a press release from IBB Ventures. The round attracted investors from both financial and tax sectors, including IBB Ventures, BLACKVRST Equity, early-stage VC Heartfelt, and notable angels like N26's current Supervisory Board Chairman and sevDesk's founder.

While banking and investing have gone digital, taxes remain stubbornly analog. People still wrestle with clunky software or wait weeks for overbooked tax advisors. Yet banks and fintechs already have the data they need – transaction histories, investment records, income streams. They just lack the expertise to turn that information into tax solutions.

That's where AnyTax comes in. The startup provides ready-made, API-first tax solutions that financial platforms can plug directly into their existing products. Think of it like adding tax calculations and filing capabilities the same way platforms now embed payment processing or investment tools. The infrastructure is modular and AI-powered, letting each platform customize what they offer. Tax advisors can also use AnyTax's white-label solutions to modernize their own services.

"Banking, payments and investing have all become real-time; with taxes being so closely connected to these aspects of our financial lives, it feels ancient how manual and intransparent everything around taxes still is today," said co-founder Moritz Kuder.

The timing is critical. Over half of Germany's tax advisors are set to retire within a decade, while fewer young professionals enter the field. Meanwhile, fintech platforms keep expanding their services – with tax being the obvious missing piece.

AnyTax plans to use the funding to expand its tax infrastructure and forge partnerships with leading financial platforms.
