Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin has once again been recognized as one of the world's leading hospitals, securing 7th place in the annual "World's Best Hospitals" ranking by US magazine Newsweek. According to a press release from Charité, this prestigious recognition places the Berlin institution at the top of all German clinics.
The comprehensive analysis, conducted by Newsweek in collaboration with statistics platform Statista, evaluated more than 2,400 hospitals across 30 countries. The assessment incorporated patient surveys, medical professional feedback, and quality of care performance metrics.
"Being ranked among the top 10 shows that we consistently deliver medical excellence at the highest level and belong among the global elite," said Prof. Heyo K. Kroemer, Chairman of Charité's Board. "It also reinforces Charité's status as one of Germany's most significant healthcare and scientific institutions."
The Berlin hospital shares the top 10 with European counterparts including Stockholm's Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset (5th) and Universitätsspital Zürich (10th). The Mayo Clinic in the USA claimed the top spot once again.
Charité also excelled in specialized fields, with top 10 global rankings in neurology, neurosurgery, cardiac surgery, cardiology, endocrinology, and orthopedics in the specialty rankings published in fall 2024.
Other German institutions performed impressively as well, with university hospitals in Heidelberg, Munich, and Hamburg ranking 14th, 23rd, and 35th respectively.
