Berlin's charles acquires Spectrm to enhance AI messaging solutions
Berlin's WhatsApp marketing automation leader charles has acquired Spectrm, a specialist in AI-focused conversational marketing, according to a company announcement. The acquisition combines two complementary technologies to create an end-to-end conversational marketing automation solution.
While charles has established itself in WhatsApp marketing automation for customer retention, Spectrm has focused on customer acquisition through Facebook and Instagram Messenger. The merger brings together charles' expertise in generating subscriber bases and automated marketing campaigns with Spectrm's AI-driven conversation capabilities.
A key factor in the acquisition was Spectrm's 'SafeMatch' technology, which ensures AI-driven conversations remain within brand guidelines while avoiding sensitive topics. This approach has attracted global clients including Volkswagen, The Premier League, and BMW.
The deal comes at a strategic time, as Meta's business messaging ecosystem experiences over 80% year-over-year growth, becoming the company's fastest-growing product. The combined platform aims to address growing demand from CMOs for integrated conversational marketing solutions that lower customer acquisition costs while increasing lifetime revenue.
The merger has its roots in a university connection between Spectrm's co-founder Max Koziolek and charles' co-founder Artjem Weissbeck. With both companies' offices just 15 minutes apart, the acquisition reinforces Berlin's position as a hub for innovation in conversational marketing solutions.
