Berlin-based healthtech startup Evela Health has successfully closed a €2 million funding round to expand its digital menopause care platform across German-speaking markets. The funding comes from Impact Shakers, BetterVentures, angel investors, and includes €1.2 million in non-dilutive funding from IBB Berlin.
Founded just 18 months ago by three healthcare and technology veterans, Evela Health is addressing a critical gap in women's healthcare. Traditional gynecologists in Germany face significant constraints with only 5-minute appointment slots and €16 reimbursements, making comprehensive menopause discussions nearly impossible.
"Doctors are not negligent due to their personalities – they simply lack sufficient time and often training," explains Co-CEO Dr. Valerie Kirchberger, a trained pediatrician with management experience at Berlin's Charité hospital. This time crunch has created a market flooded with misinformation and ineffective products.
Evela's digital platform centers around ten key life dimensions affected by menopause, including sleep, nutrition, mental health, and sexual health. The solution combines three core components: Evela Campus (a comprehensive knowledge base), personalized consultations with trained menopause specialists, and ongoing support through webinars and follow-ups.
Unlike traditional medical appointments, Evela's consultations begin with comprehensive questionnaires and are conducted by trained counselors rather than doctors, allowing for in-depth discussions that provide validation and evidence-based information.
The company focuses on B2B2C channels through employers and insurance providers, having already secured contracts with insurance provider HanseMerkur. This approach addresses workplace challenges, as women over 40 often experience increased sick leave during perimenopause despite representing highly skilled workers.
The fresh funding will support strategic team expansion in tech and AI expertise, sales execution, and platform development. Currently serving primarily the German-speaking market, Evela Health plans broader European expansion as they establish their evidence-based care model.
