Berlin-based cybersecurity startup RedMimicry has successfully closed a seven-figure seed funding round led by High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), with participation from Hamburg's Capital Square, Munich's superangels, and several business angels. The company plans to use the investment to advance its technology and expand sales operations.
Founded in 2023 by Alexander Rausch and Stefan Steinberg, RedMimicry offers the first platform capable of realistically and automatically simulating complex, multi-stage cyberattacks. The solution enables organizations to emulate real threat actors like LockBit and Black Basta, helping them validate their defenses and strengthen cyber resilience.
According to the HTGF's press release, many organizations currently test their security measures only selectively and under unrealistic conditions, leaving vulnerabilities undetected. With regulatory requirements like DORA and NIS-2 demanding comprehensive security testing, RedMimicry provides repeatable emulations that allow thorough validation against current attack chains.
"Our vision is to enable companies to protect themselves independently and effectively against increasingly complex cyber-attacks," said CEO Alexander Rausch. The platform is already being used by medium-sized and large companies, as well as managed security service providers and consulting firms.
The fresh capital will fuel product development, with particular focus on specific threat scenarios targeting critical infrastructure and financial service providers. RedMimicry also plans to invest in its sales team and expand its partner network.
Both founders bring extensive cybersecurity experience from their previous roles at Proofpoint and the German Cyber Security Organisation (DCSO). The startup collaborates with a growing network of partners to help companies enhance their security processes while reducing costs and effort.
HTGF's Björn Sykora praised the founders' combination of "technical excellence with entrepreneurial vision," highlighting RedMimicry as addressing one of the greatest current risks facing companies.
