Finding Bad Cells – AI Health App Gets €14M

The Aignostics tool helps pathologists by highlighting visible changes in tissue while ‘explainable AI’ algorithms work out the likelihood of that tissue being cancerous or non-cancerous. Their technology draws on research from Fraunhofer Society, the Charité hospital, and the Technical University Berlin, and the company went through the Digital Health Accelerator (DHA) of the Charité and the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH). Aignostics was started in 2018 by Dr. Maximilian Alber, Professor Frederick Klauschen and Viktor Matyas and received €5M seed money in 2020. Now Aignostics has received another €14M series A funding for further development and consolidation in the US market, as dgap reports from the press release. This is one of Berlin’s AI applications in digital health that is leading the way in developing and piloting artificial intelligence solutions in the hi-tech health sector.
