NENNA.AI Secures Funding to Protect Corporate AI Data

Berlin-based NENNA.AI has raised over €1 million to expand its AI privacy platform, according to a company press release. The funding round was led by IBB Ventures and dfv Venture, with participation from business angels specializing in B2B deep tech and consulting.
The startup tackles a growing corporate headache: shadow AI. Studies show that 40% of employees in German companies use private or freely available AI tools at work, and globally, half of all companies report unauthorized uploads of sensitive information to public AI models. This creates serious risks including data breaches, leaked trade secrets, and contract violations.
NENNA.AI's solution works like a digital privacy shield. When employees enter prompts or upload documents to AI models like ChatGPT, Google Gemini, or Claude, the platform automatically masks personal data and confidential information in real time. After the AI processes the request, NENNA.AI unmasks the results so workers receive complete, usable outputs while sensitive data never leaves company control.
The platform also cuts costs by providing centralized access to multiple AI models without separate licenses. Companies can integrate their own AI models and agents through NENNA-Chat, the platform's unified interface.
Since launching in 2023, NENNA.AI has attracted over 50 B2B customers across industries including manufacturing, legal, tax consulting, media, and e-commerce. The platform operates entirely in German cloud infrastructure, meeting strict GDPR and EU AI Act requirements.
The company earned recognition in 2025 with three major awards: the ATHENE Award as a top 3 cybersecurity startup in the DACH region, the AI Everything Award at GITEX Europe, and Best German Legal Tech Startup at the German Legal Tech Summit.
"European companies want to use AI securely with full control, not block it," said Alexander Siebert, CEO and founder of NENNA.AI. "Our platform ensures relevant data truly stays with companies."
