Berlin-based energy tech startup Nomos has secured $2.1 million in pre-seed funding to transform the way energy is sold and consumed in Europe. As reported by starting-up, the round was led by Speedinvest, with participation from notable founders in the tech industry.

Founded by Stefan Gerbes and Nils Bitzer, Nomos aims to disrupt the traditional energy market by providing an API-first solution for dynamic electricity tariffs. This innovative approach allows manufacturers and installers of heat pumps and solar products to offer their own energy plans, effectively becoming one-stop shops for comprehensive energy solutions.

As a licensed electricity trader on the European Power Exchange (EPEX SPOT), Nomos handles all legal and operational aspects, enabling its B2B clients to offer complete energy solutions without initial investments or operational overhead. This unique positioning addresses the growing demand for energy autonomy and intelligent heating and charging solutions.

The startup's technology comes at a crucial time, as estimates suggest German energy consumers will overpay by more than €5 billion in 2024 due to opaque tariffs from dominant market players. Nomos aims to break these power structures by providing cost-saving and hyper-transparent electricity tariffs.

"Our easily integrated API solution allows leading manufacturers and installers of heating and solar systems to become full-service energy providers," said Stefan Gerbes, co-founder and CEO of Nomos. "By embedding our transparent dynamic electricity tariffs into their product offerings, consumers can achieve significant cost savings through smart charging and heating."

With Germany's rapid energy transition, including plans for up to six million heat pumps and 15 million electric vehicles by 2030, Nomos is well-positioned to capitalize on the growing market for innovative energy solutions. The company has already secured its first B2B customers and is supplying households across Germany with electricity.
